Ramble on
And a happy belated Memorial Day to y'all, too. Over said weekend, I actually uttered the words, "Man, I love the short week." And then I realized what a complete and total IDIOT I am. Really? Short week? As if I only work five days a week to begin with, so a national holiday means more days off.
I kill myself sometimes.
The actual holiday did see me sleeping late, compliments of visiting grandparents. So that was nice. And thanks to more grandparents hosting the children for a sleepover for a few days at the beginning of the weekend, I also got to sleep late on Friday AND Saturday. So I guess I did get a real holiday. How about that?
In other news, I am 11 weeks pregnant today. According to pregnancy math, that means I am starting my 12th week. And that means the first trimester is about to be behind me. Most of the stupid pregnancy books (such as "What to Expect When You're Expecting" aka "What We Can Scare the Hell Out of You About When You're Expecting") tell you that the morning sickness should be declining at this point. That would be a DAMN LIE. The afternoon/evening sickness is worse than ever for me right now. And knowing my history, I have at least another three weeks of this torture to go.
I have no funny way to tie this post all together, so I am just leaving it like this. I am lucky I woke up long enough to post something semi-coherent at all.

My all day sickness lasted until after my 20 week ultrasound. At that point I was begging my little girl to "Please stop making mommy sick!" I have a friend who is pregnant now and she has been really sick as well. She kept saying that it would all stop when she got to 12 weeks. I didn't have the heart to remind her how long I was sick.
Here's hoping you are feeling better soon. Will you be at Jen's reading on Thursday?
Whoa!!! I came over here to see if you were going to Jen's book deal on Thursday and I hear you're pregnant! That's AWESOME!
hope you feel better soon. I'm sure you've read about all the remedies you can try. I was sick the entire pregnancy with Ethan. I tried eating frequently so my stomach wouldn't get empty, and sucking on candy seemed to help a little. I think when I was 4-5 months along, I had only gained 2 pounds. But, it's nothing that won't be cured in about 6 months!
I remember, at about 8 weeks along, picking up "What to Expect", reading a few chapters with growing horror, then putting it back on the shelf. I swore I wouldn't read *anything* else about pregnancy - I'd just trust my body and my doctor (who was great, pro-natural everything, lalala - not that I went natural in the end, it's just good to approach pregnancy from that end). I don't know why people recommend that book! It's terrifyingly full of horror stories!
Ugh. I feel you with the What To Expect When You're Expecting - didn't even read the copy that was given to me as a gift because it made my palms sweat. But I highly recommend The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine for any first timers out there. If you like this blog, you'll love her irreverent style.
